What People Are Saying

I cannot praise Caroline highly enough for her support, professionalism and expert knowledge, especially regarding the needs of an autistic person when subjected to questioning during a workplace interview.

My son was always treated and disciplined as neurotypical and interviews were carried out by staff who had little, if any, understanding as to how the questioning of an autistic person should be properly conducted.

As a consequence my son's interviews were flawed due to his being asked closed questions, yes/no questions and multiple questions in one sentence which made him very confused, stressed and unable to explain and represent himself adequately. Clearly team leaders, managers and HR personnel would benefit greatly from the training that is offered by CESI in respect of the treatment of autistic employees.

There's very little available that explores this topic with the depth, thoughtfulness, and practical focus that this course offers. Caroline has taken what is a complex area and explained it in a way that is both accessible and immediately applicable.

What I particularly valued is that the course goes beyond autism. It teaches structured, fair interviewing processes that recognise individual differences in communication, lived experience, and processing style. Those principles make interviews fairer, more respectful, and more effective for everyone involved.

As someone interested in trauma-informed practice, I found the approach aligned closely with trauma-informed values. It promotes psychological safety, reduces unnecessary pressure, and encourages interviewers to adapt their approach without compromising the integrity of the process. I came away with practical tools that I can confidently apply in my own work, and I believe they increase the likelihood of both fair processes and fair outcomes for everyone.

I'm not aware of anything else that covers this subject with the same level of rigour while remaining so practical and usable.

As Associate Dean for Student Engagement at Wrexham University — an institution that has been voted the most socially inclusive university in the UK for several consecutive years — I am acutely aware of how rarely training provision genuinely bridges the gap between policy and practice. This course does exactly that.

As a leader and manager who is inevitably drawn into complaints, investigations, grievances, and disciplinaries, I know first hand how important training like this is. The training and tools that Dr Caroline Gorden has developed are not only research-informed and academically rigorous — they are immediately usable in practice. The frameworks are clear, easy to apply, and easy to remember under pressure, which is precisely what is needed in high-stakes situations.

What also strikes me is how universal this approach is. Consistent with the principles of Universal Design for Learning — the idea that what is designed well for those with the greatest need works better for everyone — the interviewing frameworks taught in this course are not only beneficial for autistic employees. They represent good, fair, structured practice that improves outcomes for all parties in a formal process.

Dr Caroline Gorden brings her considerable academic expertise to bear with clarity and warmth. I cannot recommend this course highly enough to any leader, manager, or HR professional who takes their responsibilities in this area seriously.
